Please come Monday, September 17 at 6:15 PM to show the City you do
not want a hotel built in the Pine Bush on occupied Karner Blue habitat.

Issues:
The proposed Residence Inn hotel is on 3.6 acres of Pine Bush,
located adjacent to the Karner Blue butterfly hill at Crossgates Mall.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service has determined that this site is
occupied Karner Blue habitat.
The question before us:
Does the City of Albany want to permit the construction of a hotel on
occupied habitat of the endangered Karner Blue butterfly?
The solution:
The City of Albany should arrange to trade land at the Harriman
Office Campus for the 3.6 acres of the proposed Residence Inn site.
Twice before land in the Pine Bush has been traded for state-owned
land on the Harriman Office Campus.
A land trade would be the perfect solution: this important Karner
Blue habitat would be protected and a hotel would be built at the
Harriman Office Campus, which is desired by the Harriman Office
Campus plan.
