While this conference is geared for the energy related trades and scientific community executives, it may offer a lot of useful information to us plain folk on ways to help reduce the city's overhead due to rising energy costs. (and fiscal mismanagement)

  Overview:
The 2nd annual New Energy Symposium is being organized and hosted by the New Energy New York and the Energy and Environmental Technology Applications Center (E2TAC) at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) on July 30-31, 2007.

Senator Charles Schumer and Robert Catell, the Chairman and CEO of Keyspan, are co-chairs. This second Symposium has been expanded to two days with the addition of a New York Hydrogen Expo on July 30. The event is organized in partnership with the Energetics, the National Hydrogen Association, and NYSERDA.

The New Energy Symposium offers a unique chance to share industry trends, threats, and opportunities as they relate to emerging energy and environmental technologies. The Symposium also provides the opportunity to meet with high level executives from the academia, government, and industry sectors who take an interest in the future of energy in the United States. This year we expect 250-350 high level executives in attendance.

The Hydrogen Expo will feature a "Ride & Drive" event for our attendees, similar to the event hosted by NHA. We have several companies already confirmed, including General Motors, BMW, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Hyundai and AWP&H among others.

Amongst the list of invited and confirmed speakers we have Amory Lovins from Rocky Mountain Institute, Congresswoman Gillibrand, Congressman McNulty, Assemblyman Paul Tonko, Lt. Governor Paterson and our Chairs Senator Schumer and CEO, Robert Catell of Keyspan. Companies confirmed to speak at the event include Plug Power, AWP&H, GM, MTI MIcroFuel Cells, GE, Air Products, NYPA, Air Liquide, NYSERDA, Department of Energy, National Hydrogen Association, Pace Energy Project, Jadoo, UTC Power, Earth Rise, One Equity Partners, Lazard Capital, New York City Investment Funds, AWS Truewind, BQ Energy, Horizon Wind Energy, Noble Environmental Power, New York Academy of Sciences, MIT, NYSEIA, Bronx Community College, ASRC, Energy Photovoltaics Inc, BP Solar, Goldman Sachs, Cornell, SUNY ESF, Northeast Biofuels, Cobleskill University, EYPAE, US Green Building Council, Direct Energy, and IBM.
