Hi Lynne and all interested in not expanding the landfill into more of the
Pinebush,

The meeting with Tom Nitido, City Comptroller, went extremely well! He is
a very nice person and an environmentalist to boot! Unfortunately he tried
to call me before I meeting to postpone it because of a sudden urgent family
thing that he had to attend to. However, when he called I was already
outside City Hall parking the car, so he agreed to see me but requested that
the meeting should be shortened. That was fine with me because I was able
to outline everything I wanted to say and then left the backup materials for
him to look at. I actually discussed stuff for 30 minutes. He said that he
would definitely look at it and would call me back to discuss things and
perhaps set up a follow up meeting. He made notes and was delighted when I
told him that he could keep the backup stuff.

At the end of the meeting he said that he was so glad that I did not say
that the City should not expand into the Pinebush, but rather had concrete
ideas of how the City could make money so that it would not have to take in
Allied Waste and outside haulers, so making the current landfill last
longer. He really liked my ideas about recycling and reuse.

I would say that the meeting was very promising and that he is very
sympathetic, enthusiastic, "green" person to deal with. If anyone has any
questions regarding this meeting, please email me.

Sally
