Set your designs on the City of Albany

August 3, 2007 at 12:10 pm by Tim O'Brien, Staff writer

If you’re interested in helping the city of Albany discuss how to be
environmentally sensitive, you might want to participate in one of a
series of public discussions next week.

The discussions will focus on reducing the use of non-renewable
resources, minimizing environmental impact, and connecting people
with the natural environment.

The Sustainable Design Assessment Team, is a group of seven national
experts on everything from market dynamics to abandoned buildings.
The team will spend three days with the community in a series of
public design sessions and meetings to put together a sustainability
strategy for the City.

Albany is only one of five cities to get a grant to hold these
sessions this year.

Details and the schedule of sessions is here. Free poster included.

Where do you see the City of Albany 5... 10... 50 years from now?

On Monday, August 6th to Wednesday, August 8th you'll get to help
design Albany's future.

Mayor Jennings and the Department of Development & Planning are happy
to announce the upcoming Sustainable Design Assessment Team charrette.

Sustainable design produces places, products and services in a way
that reduces the use of non-renewable resources, minimizes
environmental impact, and relates people with the natural environment.

The Sustainable Design Assessment Team, or SDAT for short, is
composed of 7 national experts on everything from market dynamics to
abandoned buildings. The team will spend three days with the
community in a series of public design sessions and meetings to put
together a sustainability strategy for the City.

You are a vitally important part of these meetings. Your unique
perspective and experience in Albany will help guide the team.
